A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
