An individual who spiked candy with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a summer program in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.

The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

However, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.

She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".

She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.

The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC explained objects including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She said Ruben proceeded to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining the police response of the events.

The legal representative said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.

She explained Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
